Is the hygiene treatment painful?
Usually, scaling and polishing is pain free. However, if you are currently experiencing any discomfort, inform the dental hygienist right away, even before the procedure beings. The hygienist may give you local anaesthetic with a relatively mild dosage, or use anaesthetic creams. A hygienist that goes above and beyond his/her professional work is also concerned with helping you feel more comfortable and alleviating your pain.
